Show Your Lighting Some Love!

Make the switch to LEDs this year!

One of the most obvious reasons to switch to LED lighting is the savings in power. While LEDs typically cost much more than the average light bulb, they last much longer and use quite a lot less power during it’s lifespan. To get the same lumen output of a 60W incandescent light bulb, an LED only has to draw 9W of power. Not only does this save you money on your power bill, it also saves you time by not having to buy new light bulbs every year!

This large difference in power consumption exists due to the fact that LEDs produce a miniscule amount of waste heat in comparison to incandescent and halogen light bulbs. Incandescent and halogen light bulbs create light by heating a filament until it’s hot enough that it emits light. This is extremely inefficient as about 95% of the energy used is radiated away as heat. LEDs create light by using a material that emit light in response to an electrical signal. Since light is the main product of the material used and not a by-product, degradation in LEDs is much slower compared to both incandescent and halogen bulbs. Due to the slower degradation of material, LEDs last much longer than incandescent and halogen bulbs. While incandescent and halogen bulbs are only rated to last about 1,000 hours, LEDs are rated to last close to 30,000 hours.
