In 1971, John Tung, a new immigrant from South Africa and a butcher by trade, bought COE Lumber. With four young children to feed, he and his wife Eileen forged ahead and built the business with hard work, dedication, and honesty. Today, COE Lumber is one of the few remaining independently owned and operated building suppliers within the City of Vancouver. The journey continues with two of their children, Mark Lau and Vanessa Lee-Son.
Good Neighbours, Good Advice
As a member of the Kitsilano neighbourhood for over 45 years, it’s no surprise to hear that some of our customers first came into our store as infants or toddlers. Today, they are bringing their children to become part of the community at COE Lumber. While shopping in our store, many of our customers often bump into their neighbourhood friends, adding lively conversation and laughter to an already great atmosphere. We truly believe that honesty and exceptional service are paramount to giving good advice. The loyalty of our customers makes this belief words to live by.
Our Community
Our local community is important to us. During the 2015/2016 season, we supported many local school and community fundraising events and sponsored two neighbourhood teams.
